Interview with Titanic Expert Parks Stephenson

I had the immense pleasure to speak with Parks Stephenson, an engineer and naval officer who is considered one of the world’s leading Titanic experts. You may recognize him from the NatGeo documentary, Titanic The Digital Resurrection. He helped analyze the Magellan digital recreation to see if there was anything new we could learn about the Titanic - and there was a lot.

Stephenson has been to the Titanic wreck five times. I cannot believe I spoke to someone who has seen the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean - that is surreal. But, that wasn’t even the most mind blowing part of our conversation. He casually told me that he was personally asked by the former CEO of Oceangate to be part of the Titan sub team as their Titanic expert.

He then went on to point out something that the headlines missed - something that didn't get much attention during the actual search - that even if the five passengers had somehow survived the implosion, they were probably doomed anyway. The news focused on the 96 hours of oxygen, but there was something else that would’ve killed them a lot sooner than that.

That conversation with Parks Stephenson is now live in our latest YouTube video that just dropped today and the rest is here on Substack. Enjoy!
